Our Founder's Story
Leah holds a degree in Sociology and Criminology, is a Registered Social Worker and has completed a Consolidation programme in Continuing Professional Education & Learning for social workers. She is also an Advanced Child Exploitation Practitioner (ACEP Level 4) and has completed various QCF qualifications in Safeguarding, Children’s Studies, and Leadership.
Leah gained extensive social work experience in frontline statutory child protection before transitioning to a third-sector organization specializing in child exploitation and modern-day slavery. She has held strategic roles, providing training, advice, and guidance within multi-agency teams, and has significant experience in safety planning and risk reduction for high-risk exploitation cases.
Notably, Leah was a key figure in developing a Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) program that won a Social Care Wales National Accolade Award in 2018. She has also contributed to research that informed service delivery for Youth Services within a local authority. Leah’s expertise extends to delivering both group work and one-on-one interventions for children at risk of CSE and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), as well as working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
In addition to her professional experience, Leah has volunteered in orphanages in Cambodia and Kenya, delivering training on exploitation. Before her career in child safeguarding, she held managerial roles in an adult mental health service, worked at a school for children with learning disabilities, and provided care for elderly individuals in the community.
Leah is deeply passionate about trauma-informed practice, challenging victim-blaming language, and adopting a strengths-based approach when working with vulnerable children.
